Why is my aircon not cooling?
Dirty filters, low refrigerant from a leak, a failed capacitor or fan motor, or a dirty outdoor coil are the most common causes. Cleaning the filters is a good first check. If that doesn't help, the unit needs diagnosis.
How often should an aircon be serviced?
For home use, at least once a year. Units that run heavily, in commercial kitchens or dusty spaces, or near the sea benefit from servicing every six months.
Why is water leaking from my aircon?
Usually a blocked condensate drain, a unit that isn't level, or a dirty evaporator coil. Left alone, it can damage walls and ceilings, so it's worth fixing quickly.
Does salt air damage aircons?
Yes. In seafront suburbs, salt spray corrodes the fins and electrical parts of outdoor units faster. Regular cleaning and servicing, and choosing a well-protected position, help units last longer.
