Why is my tumble dryer not heating?
Common causes are a failed heating element, a blown thermal fuse or thermostat, or, on heat-pump dryers, a sensor or compressor fault. A blown thermal fuse is often a sign of blocked airflow, so the cause of the overheating should be fixed too, not just the fuse.
Why does my dryer take so long to dry clothes?
Blocked lint filters, a blocked vent hose or a dirty condenser are the usual causes. These restrict airflow, waste electricity and can create a fire risk. Faulty sensors can also end cycles too early.
Is a burning smell from my dryer dangerous?
It can be. Switch the dryer off and unplug it, clean the lint filter and don't use it again until it has been checked. Lint build-up near the heater is a known fire risk.
